LETTING GO: When It Seems So Right But God Thinks Otherwise


I am the type of person who has always been so used to having things work out the way I want them to – major life decisions, including minor ones – everything that feels right always goes as planned.

I always thought that if God permits something to happen, it is what he wills for me.

Little did I know that later on I will learn that sometimes God permits things to happen, not because He wants these things for us but because He wants us to find out for ourselves that what we think is His will is not what He has actually planned for us.

God hates slander (Proverbs 6:16, 19). It is evil. That’s why Paul lists it as a behavior of those who hate God (Romans 1:30) and why James calls it demonic behavior (James 3:15–16). Slander occurs whenever someone says something untrue about someone else that results, intentionally or unintentionally, in damaging that someone else’s reputation. And when it occurs, it becomes a divisive, discouraging, and confusing weight that often affects numerous people — sometimes many, many people. Because of its poisonous power, it is one of the adversary’s chief strategies to divide relationships and deter and derail the mission of the church. We must be on our guard against this closely clinging sin and frequently lay it aside (Hebrews 12:1).

A Reminder

If you fall in love with her, be ready to hold her hands tight enough – to keep her close to you in the entire roller coaster ride of her life. Assure her of your company even when she demands solitude. Sometimes, you gotta read between the lines just to figure out what she really wants. Try to write notes on a random piece of paper, this will never be out-fashioned upon her eyes. Memorize her favorite songs by heart and you will never grow out of tune in every situation. She loves cafés and long walks, always be there to keep up- a hand to hold, a coffee buddy, a silence in her chaotic mind, a shoulder to rest upon. Be patient when she’s inside a bookstore, she will be needing your opinions most of the time and prepare something with sense to say.
